Frequently asked questions.
How do I know my duck number?
If you adopted your duck on the website, your information will be downloaded into a spreadsheet. If you purchased your duck from the Farmer's market our using cash or check, your information is entered into a spreadsheet. These two spreadsheets are combined and a formula is used to assign numbers to all the ducks on race morning. In past years, ducks that are adopted on race weekend are manually stamped with numbers.
How will I know if I won?
As soon as we have verified the winning number and located your contact information either in the spreadsheet, or in the manually stamped adoption papers, we will call the phone number provided. If we can't reach you by phone, we will send you an email notifying you of your adopted duck winning. Once we get your mailing information, we will get a check in the mail to you.
How do I find out who all of the winners are?
The winners will be posted on our website, VailDuckRace.com, within 24 hours of the finish of the race. The winners will also be published in the Vail Daily within three days of the race.
What happens to the ducks after the race?
Duck are “adopted” rather than purchased because the Vail Rotary Club collects all of the ducks from the river after the race and stores them to use in upcoming races. Keeping the ducks allows the Club to not have to purchase ducks every year allowing more money to go to the community and international projects supported by the club.
